As the Best Man to this year's wedding of the century, you have a lot of responsibilities on your shoulders. You are tasked to accomplish a lot of things before, during and even after the wedding itself takes place. You probably know all your duties and responsibilities, have written a tickler or a guide to make sure you have everything ready and set for the big day. That is to say, you have it all figured out.

But keep in mind that things might not always work as planned so as the Best Man at the wedding you have to make sure that you have several different ideas or plans to make sure nothing will go wrong. You might say that being a Best Man is not as exciting as you first thought it would be. Don't let that idea get into your head and spoil all the happiness and pride you are supposed to actually feel. True, there are a lot of things you must do as the Best Man but keep in mind that you were chosen to be the Best Man because the couple believes in your capacity to make things fall into place. Not that they think of you as a fairy godfather or anything like that. They just trust you too much and trust in your instincts as well.

So there's actually no need for you to feel scared about the responsibilities they have automatically passed on to you. By knowing this, you will hopefully become more excited about your best friend's wedding. As the Best Man, there are a lot of things you have to keep in mind. Other than knowing your responsibilities by heart, you also have to know the things you are not supposed to do on the wedding day. Have the presence of mind and composure. Don't get drunk or get wasted. Remember that as much as this is the night of the couple, you also have a big role to play. There's the speech and the toast you have to lead everyone to. Imagine speaking in front of at least a hundred guests all drunk and wasted? Of course you don't want that to happen. So if you have issues with self control, stay away from the wine and liquor table.

Avoid talking too much and over entertaining the guests. You are not the one who got married. Of course you have to do your part in making all the guests feel welcomes as the couple might not be able to have direct contact with them until right before they leave. But don't talk too much. Reserve all the talking for your speech and toast. Avoid boisterous behavior. Being a guy isn't an excuse so you have to know that you have to be respectable so that everyone at the wedding will respect you. You wouldn't want to make a scene any way right?
