The Right Gifts for Your Wedding Attendants

As if choosing the most perfect wedding gown and finding the most romantic reception venue is not enough, you have to worry about zillion other things when planning for the big day. One of them involves choosing the right gifts for your wedding attendants. Your bridesmaids and groomsmen deserve little trinkets of appreciation for looking fabulous in their wedding finery and helping you ease away those wedding jitters. I almost forgot to pay attention to this when I was neck-deep in planning for my fall wedding, and it was my then-fiancé who had to remind me to buy gifts for my wedding attendants.

The good news is, it’s practically a no-brainer when it comes to buying gifts for your bridesmaids. Women are generally easier to shop for, so you should be able to get your bridesmaids their gifts in no time. If you want to make things easier for you, you can just leave the groomsmen’s gifts to your fiancé, but we’ll get to that later.

Before choosing gifts for your attendants, consider the following first: Do you prefer to give them identical gifts? Or do you want to give them something that will match their personalities? Lastly, how much can you spend for the gifts?

Now if budget is not an issue, jewelry is a classic option when it comes to bridesmaids. You can bracelets engraved with their names, or something with their birthstones on them. In fact, I gave my bridesmaids identical silver lockets when I got married. I felt that they deserved to be given quality gifts for they were a huge help to me, especially during the planning and coordination of my wedding.

A less expensive option is to give each of them a goody bag. You can buy specialized goody bags from stores such as Bath & Body Works, which are already beautifully-wrapped and ready to be given away. You can also fill a gorgeous shoulder bag with things that your bridesmaid wants such as favorite magazines, chocolates, CDs, and the like.

If you want to do away with trinkets and goody bags, you can just hold a spa day for you and your bridesmaids and treat them to facials, manicures and pedicures. This is one great idea and it will give you more time to bond with them before the wedding. If you want, you can hold this as your bachelorette party, particularly if you’re not feeling the whole male-stripper party.

For the groomsmen (in case your fiancé left all the gift-buying to you) it’s best to stick with gifts that are more traditional. Practical suggestions include cuff links, wallets, watches, Swiss army knives (which they will love, trust me) and Zippo lighters for the smokers. Or you can opt for more unique gifts and buy them tickets to a great basketball or football game; imagine the big smile on your groomsmen’s faces when you hand them a couple of ringside tickets to the Lakers game.

Another great idea is to get each of them each a poker set. These poker sets can even be engraved to make the gifts more personalized. Now what guy would not appreciate that? Always make sure that what the gifts that you’re going to hand them are meaningful and special, just like what your wedding attendants are to you.
